Derby’s Alstom signs £1 billion contracts for battery
Alstom has secured £1 billion in contracts to supply and maintain 29 battery-electric trains for TransPennine Express, with £800 million for the trains and £200 million for maintenance. The trains, to be built in Derby, will support over 350 jobs and 5,500 roles in the UK supply chain, with delivery starting in 2032. The project aims to enhance rail travel in northern England and support economic growth.
