Bulgaria presented its first two Alstom electric trains, set to enter service in September. The country has received all 12 remaining trains under the Recovery and Resilience Plan, with 23 more to be delivered. The trains will operate on the Pernik-Sofia-Plovdiv-Svilengrad route, with 40 drivers already trained. Alstom plans to complete delivery of all 35 trains by mid-2027, with maintenance handled in Bulgaria.

Bulgaria's Transport Ministry unveiled its first Alstom electric passenger train, part of a 12-train delivery worth €155 million. The unveiling occurred at Sofia Central Station, with 23 more trains to be delivered later. The trains are financed under the Recovery and Resilience Plan.

Alstom is discussing a potential order of 200 more locomotives with Indian Railways for its Madhepura plant. The initial 800-locomotive order is set for completion by March 2028, with 650 already delivered. The plant, leased until 2048-49, may also produce other railway-related products. The 'Make in India' e-loco project has generated ₹60,000 crore in economic output nationwide during FY2020-26, according to a study.

Alstom said it has a contract for 153 Adessia Stream electric trains for Portugal’s CP. The order totals about €1.03bn, built in two stages: €746m for 117 units signed in Oct 2025, plus a March 2026 addendum adding 36 units for €318m. First passenger service is scheduled from 2029, with deliveries through 2031.

Alstom says it has started passenger service in Melbourne with the first of 100 Next Generation G Class trams under a €700 million contract from the Victorian Government awarded in 2022. Alstom will build trams at its Dandenong facility and maintain them via a Maidstone depot, with 65% local content and over 2,000 jobs supported.

Victoria will order 25 additional Alstom X’Trapolis 2.0 six-car trains for Melbourne, taking the planned fleet to 50 sets. The follow-on contract was linked to the 2026-27 state budget and is intended to replace ageing Comeng trains and expand capacity. The trains are expected to be built at Alstom’s Ballarat facility, supporting local jobs and supply-chain work.

Alstom said it won a €270 million contract from Australia’s Victorian Government to supply 25 additional X’Trapolis 2.0 electric trains. The order follows an option under a 2021 deal and raises the program total to 50 trains. Trains will be built in Victoria with a 60% local content requirement. Alstom shares were up 0.33% at EUR 16.60 in Paris.

Alstom’s first G Class tram entered passenger service on Melbourne’s Route 59, after testing from the Maidstone depot, with first paying passengers reported in late July 2026. The Victorian Government ordered 100 next-generation trams and built the Maidstone depot for up to 30 trams. The fully low-floor Flexity 2-based trams will replace older high-floor vehicles and expand across routes 57, 59, 82 and later others.

Kazakhstan has spent the past decade developing domestic rail manufacturing, supported by foreign investment and increased local production. The sector is also beginning to supply export markets. Kazakhstan is also preparing the next phase of railway expansion to increase network capacity and accommodate growing transit volumes. Alstom has operated in Kazakhstan since 2010, developing locomotive production and maintenance facilities while increasing the manufacture of components in the country.

Romania received the first five Traxx Passenger electric locomotives ordered by the Railway Reform Authority ARF, marking the latest step in the country's railway fleet renewal program. The locomotives have been handed over to state-owned passenger rail operator CFR Călători and are expected to enter commercial service once the remaining regulatory procedures are completed.
