European EV Sales Surge in April 2026 as Tesla and Chinese Automakers Gain Ground
ACEA data shows EU new car registrations rose 5.1% y/y to 972,314 in April 2026. BEV sales grew 37.7%, lifting BEV share to 19.7% for Jan–Apr 2026 from 15.3% a year earlier. Tesla registrations jumped 67.2% to 9,169 and EU share rose to 0.9% from 0.6%. BYD more than doubled EU sales; Chery nearly quadrupled; SAIC/MG gained 24.6%.
